Breast Lift

Mastopexy, or breast lift surgery, is performed to restore the youthful appearance of a women's chest--through the years, breasts lose shape and firmness due to childbirth, nursing and loss of skin elasticity. Mastopexy corrects the effects of aging and gravity, although may reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin around the nipple.

In conjunction with breast augmentation (the surgical insertion of breast implants), mastoplexy is performed to increase size and consistency of breasts. This especially appeals to women who have lost breast volume and firmness after pregnancy. If are in the midst of pregnancy or are planning a pregnancy, it is advisable to postpone a breast lift as child birth causes stretching of bodily tissues including breast tissue.
