Rhinoplasty / Nose Surgery
Cosmetic nose surgery, or "nose job" Rhinoplasty surgery, is a plastic surgery procedure widely performed on women, men and teens. This form of cosmetic surgery enhances the face aesthetically by creating (or re-creating) symmetry and balancing the nose with other features of the face. It is important to note that not all nose jobs are performed for cosmetic reasons. Those with birth defects or imperfections due to sustained trauma may seek reconstructive rhinoplasty to bring the appearance of their nose back to its "normal" shape and position.
Nose job surgery can rectify any unsightly abnormalities with the nostrils or bridge of the nose and with the irregular distance between the lip and nose. Apart from modifying the height and width of the nose, the cosmetic surgeon performing the nose job procedure may also build up the nose with bone tissue or cartilage.
Nose plastic surgery takes between one and two hours. With the exception of normal bruising and swelling of the nose and eye area, nose job recovery is fairly painless. In rare cases, the rhinoplasty surgeon may have to bring in the patient again; indeed a repeat procedure is a possible nose job risk.
