Ears
Otoplasty, or ear plastic surgery, is performed to fix deformed or unsightly protruding ears. Ears that stick out greatly affect an individual's appearance and may thusly lead to insecurity. The results of cosmetic ear surgery are immediate and very pleasing to the patient and his or her sense of self.
During otoplasty surgery, the external ears are remolded and trimmed down. Typically ear surgery is performed under sedation with local anesthesia and lasts for less than two hours. Post-operative discomfort or pain is generally slight. The patient is instructed to wear a tight bandage for 24 hours after the surgery and then a headband continuously for a week, after which, he or she wears the headband only at night for six weeks.
